Residents of Faridabad, grappling with a shortage of healthcare facilities, have received encouraging news. On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually lay the foundation stone for a new 500-bed building at the ESIC Medical College and Hospital, presenting the public with a Diwali gift. This expansion will increase the hospital’s bed capacity to a total of 1,150.
The ESIC Medical College and Hospital located in NIT-3 currently has 650 beds. Every day, around 5,000 patients from Faridabad and surrounding areas, including Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Palwal, Hodal, Hathin, Sonipat, Panipat, and Rewari, come for treatment. The hospital treats patients with severe illnesses such as kidney transplants, cornea transplants, angiography, angioplasty, and cancer. Currently, about 800 patients are admitted daily, leading management to refer patients to private hospitals due to capacity constraints. The construction of the new building will eliminate the need to refer patients. The event will also be attended by Union Minister of State Krishan Pal Gurjar, Vipul Goel, and other dignitaries.
The old building of the hospital is in a dilapidated condition. Constructed on a three-acre plot within the hospital premises, it needs to be demolished and rebuilt. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the new building on Tuesday, after which the demolition of the old structure will begin. The new facility will be ten stories tall.
Dr. Anil Pandey, Dean of the ESIC Medical College and Hospital, stated, “All preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s program at the hospital have been completed. The PM will virtually lay the foundation stone for the new 500-bed hospital, which will provide significant relief to ESIC cardholders.”
