Gold Loan Scam: Couple Dupes Finance Company of ₹9.45 Lakh

Faridabad: A couple allegedly duped a finance company by taking ₹9.45 lakh for a gold loan transfer. The accused, Ashok Godara and his wife Poonam, residents of Sector-85, used the amount to repay an existing loan and retrieve their pledged gold but failed to hand over the gold to the company as promised.

The company’s senior loan manager, Jaspal Singh, filed a complaint stating Ashok contacted them on December 11, claiming he wanted to transfer his Axis Bank gold loan due to high interest rates.

After completing KYC and documentation, ₹9.45 lakh was transferred to Ashok’s SBI account on December 12.

On December 13, the couple visited the Axis Bank branch with the complainant, retrieved their gold, and fled without handing it over. Despite repeated calls and visits, they refused to comply. Following the complaint, police registered an FIR at Kotwali Police Station, and an investigation is underway.
