The Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA) has prepared a plan to beautify the Surajkund Road, which leads to the International Surajkund Fair.
Plants will be planted along the road from Surajkund Chowk to the Gurgaon Road turn (T-point) via Ankhir at an estimated cost of ₹1.27 crore. These plants will be placed in the central verge along the entire 8-kilometer stretch of the road.
Although the Surajkund Road, which passes through the Aravalli Hills, already has some greenery on both sides, the FMDA plans to make the central verge lush green amidst the growing infrastructure in the area.
The central verge will be enhanced from the Gurgaon Road T-point to Ankhir and up to Surajkund Chowk, covering an 8-kilometer stretch. The FMDA’s horticulture department will plant various types of plants along the central verge of this road.
The financial bid for this ₹1.27 crore project was approved in 2024. Following the approval, the work order has now been issued. Plantation will be carried out over approximately 60,000 square meters of land along the 8-kilometer road.
The plants placed in the central verge are expected to grow into trees as tall as 10 feet. The goal is to complete the plantation within the next three months.
Plants to Prevent Glare from Oncoming Traffic
The plants to be planted on the central verge will grow into 8- to 10-foot-tall trees over time. This will help prevent the glare of headlights from oncoming vehicles, ensuring that drivers are not inconvenienced by the lights from vehicles traveling in the opposite direction.
