Faridabad: The beautification work of four major squares in the city will be completed by February. The Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA) is working on the beautification of these squares, which includes installing statues, grills, and granite stones.
Significant progress has been made at Neelam and ESI squares, while construction work is in full swing at Chimni Bai and BK squares.
To make Smart City Faridabad more appealing, a plan was devised to beautify the neglected squares in the city, with FMDA assigned this responsibility.
In the first phase, beautification work has been finalized for four squares: Neelam Square in NIT-5, ESIC Square in NIT-3, BK Square in NIT-5, and Chimni Bai Square in NIT-1.
The work includes installing statues of eminent personalities, grills, and granite stones. Drainage systems will also be constructed at these squares, and various plants will be planted to enhance nearby parks.
Approximately ₹8.98 crore will be spent on the beautification of these four squares.
90% Work Completed at Neelam and ESIC Squares
Beautification work at Neelam Square in November and ESIC Square in December included installing statues of two eminent personalities at each square.
About 90% of the work at these two squares has been completed. The installation of granite stones remains pending.
Nine Statues Being Installed at BK Square
On December 26, on the occasion of Martyrdom Day, MLA Dhanesh Adlakha announced the renaming of BK Square to Mata Gujri Square. A total of nine statues are being installed here, along with grills and granite stones.
This square’s beautification project will cost ₹4.31 crore, and the work on statues and grills is progressing rapidly.
₹4.67 Crore to Be Spent on Three Squares
Beautification work at Neelam, ESIC, and Chimni Bai squares is being carried out at a cost of ₹4.67 crore. Two statues will be installed at each of these squares.
While 90% of the work at Neelam and ESIC squares is complete, concrete roads are being constructed around Chimni Bai Square, where statues will be installed later. This work will be completed within a month.
Beautification of Other Squares in the City
FMDA also plans to beautify other squares in the city. Apart from these four, around 15 more squares, including Hardware, Patel, Bhagat Singh, Pyali, and Saran Squares, will undergo beautification in subsequent phases.
