Faridabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team has arrested Anil Kumar, a constable at Dabua Police Station, for accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000.
The accused had demanded the bribe in exchange for granting bail at the police station level in a dispute case. An FIR has been registered against the accused at the ACB police station.
The ACB received a complaint from Dharmendra Singh, a resident of Nehru Colony, Faridabad, on Monday. In the complaint, it was mentioned that a case was registered at Dabua Police Station in 2023.
For granting station-level bail to Dharmendra’s nephew in that case, Constable Anil Kumar had demanded a bribe of Rs 7,000.
A team, led by ACB Inspector Santram, was prepared for a raid. On Monday night, the team caught Constable Anil Kumar red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000. During the raid, GM DIC Sachin Kumar Yadav was present.
Inspector Santram stated that an FIR has been registered against the accused under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
